Types of graphs

 Graphs help visualise data. Different types of data may need to be represented differently. Therefore, you can use different types of graphs to visualise different types of data. For example, if you wanted to show how a set of data has changed over time, a line graph would probably be the best form to use as it shows a linear progression. These graphs are useful to see connected data and the trends. This is shown in the first graph below. However, if you are showing sets of independent data, a bar graph would be more suited. This is because bar graphs are better at comparing different values, as shown in the second graph below.
